We're thrilled to be bringing award winning theatre makers, Horse + Bamboo, to the Fylde once more this October with their brand new show for babies, young children & their families.
‘Babies Overboard’ is an interactive sensory installation that has been developed in partnership with Ribble Rivers Trust, United Utilities and LOVE my BEACH, especially for babies and young children, as part of a Tidal Ribble project which aims to improve water quality and bathing waters along the Fylde coast.
Parents, and their little ones, will join Horse + Bamboo on an adventure along the river as they dive down deep beneath the flowing water and travel through an immersive world of water on an enchanting expedition that will see them rescue a dolphin and release it into the sea to help workers fix a broken waterworks.
Ribble Rivers Trust Programme Manager, Harvey Hamilton-Thorpe, said, “We wanted to engage the public about the importance of keeping Fylde’s water clean and safe. Through the creativity of Horse + Bamboo we’ll illustrate both how people can cause problems for rivers, and how they can help. Babies Overboard does this through a playful, interactive story that engages even the smallest children at a level they will understand and enjoy. We’re really excited to see how the children and their families respond.”
Programmed by Lytham based, Fable Arts, producers of The Festival of Stories & The Shrimper’s Daughter, ‘Babies Overboard’ will take place twice a day at 10.30am and 1pm at AKS School Drama Studio in Lytham St Annes on Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th, Friday 28th & Saturday 29th October. A third show will run on Saturday 29th October only at 3pm. Tickets cost £4 for adults, £ 4 for babies / young children up to four years old and must be purchased in advance via the Fable Arts box office, which can be accessed online at www.fablearts.org.uk/whats-on or by telephone on 0333 666 3366.
Horse + Bamboo Creative Producer, Esther Ferry-Kennington, said, “Nurturing the creativity and imaginations of children is fundamental to the work of Horse + Bamboo. We want more parents to bring their babies and very young children to the theatre, that’s why we’ll also be hosting three Creative Stay and Play sessions linked to the performance installations at AKS School to give families a taste of what to expect. These sessions will be FREE to attend. The first will take place at Freckleton Village Memorial Hall on Tuesday 18th October at 11.30am, the second will take place at Park View 4U Eco Pod in Lytham on Wednesday 19th October at 11.30am and the third will take place at St. Michael’s Church Hall, Kirkham on Friday 21st October at 11.30am.”
Places at the Creative Stay and Play session must be registered in advance via the Fable Arts box office, which can be accessed online at www.fablearts.org.uk/whats-on or by telephone on 0333 666 3366.
Fable Arts Artistic Director, Alex O’Toole, said
“We’re thrilled to be working with Horse & Bamboo again. They were one of the first theatre companies to work with Fable Arts when we set up almost three years ago, so it’s very fitting that we should be launching our box office this autumn with one of their shows. So many people enjoyed their Boo Baby sensory storytelling installation & their quirky version of Red Riding Hood at last year’s Festival of Stories at Park View 4U. Babies Overboard will be a fantastic experience for parents and little ones from across the Fylde to enjoy together.”
